Arizona Population by Primary Insurance Market Segment, 2002–2010 (In Thousands)
- The slow but steady decline in employer-sponsored insurance (ESI) among both large and small employers is projected to continue at least through the end of the decade.
- Even as the percentage of uninsured Arizonans is projected to decrease slightly over the coming years, the number of people without insurance will increase by about 20,000 per year.

Notes:
- Medicaid figures do not include individuals who are also eligible for Medicare, as Medicare would be considered their “primary” source of health insurance coverage.
- Small employers are those employers who employ 50 or fewer employers. Remaining employers are classified as “large employers.”
- Individuals covered only through the Indian Health Service are included in the uninsured market segment.
- Due to rounding, numbers may not add to 100%.
