Arizona Uninsured by Age Band and Percent of Federal Poverty Level, 2006

The majority of uninsured are 19 to 44 years old (23.8%). This age group is much more likely to be uninsured when they are living in poverty than when their household income is at least double the poverty level (13.9%).
Paradoxically, among 45-64 year olds, those with a household income over 200% of FPL are three times as likely to be uninsured (9.3%) as their poverty-level counterparts (3.1%).
Uninsured children are equally distributed across the continuum of household income.
Approximately one-third of the uninsured live in poverty, e.g., have household incomes below the federal poverty level. Another one-third of the uninsured are near poverty, and the remaining one-third have household incomes at least double the poverty level.
